R&B voice who is known for her cover of Prince's I Feel for You. I feel for You by Rufus. is a massive hit. Khan is also the frontwoman of Rufus. Khan was raised the daughter of a Catholic. She attended the Hyde Park Saint Thomas the Apostle Church Primary School. Her grandmother began to introduce her music as a young child. Khan started listening to rhythm and blues while in her preteen years. At the age of 11, Khan began a group along together with Taka and Taka, who are one of Khan's sisters. The late 1960s saw the formation of the Crystalettes. Khan participated in several civil rights rallies with her father's second wife Connie an avid supporter of the movement and was a part of the Black Panther Party after befriending a fellow member activist and Chicago resident Fred Hampton in 1967. While many people claim that Khan was named Chaka at the time she became a member of the Panthers but she says she was named by the Yoruba Baba gave her the name Chaka Adunne Aduffe Karifi at the age of 13. Following her departure from the Panthers she stopped attending high school, after having studied in Calumet High School. In the Chicago area, she began performing in small groups. Her first group was Cash McCall's Lyfe together with Hassan Khan. Chaka and Hassan were married in the year 1970.
