Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteering for the community. His family's first name is Selmon is the eldest of nine kids who were raised by Eufala by Lucious Selmon. Two football. He is one of three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. He was awarded two championships as well as 31-1-1 during his three years as Oklahoma's starter. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Fourth year of college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After college he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers were all-pro three times and started his business career. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as a player, captained his team during the season of 1975. In 1993, he became the associate director of the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
