
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on the 22nd of March in 1976. Her numerous awards include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. She has also won two Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine and Forbes both have named her among the 100 most influential people on the world in both the years of 2015 and 2006 and 2006, respectively. In 2021, Forbes named her the most powerful actress in the world with an estimated net worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her acting career at the age of a teenager, making her screen debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, she appeared as a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions and in the role of Tracy Flick in Election. Elle Woods, a comedy comedy (2001) and its 2003 sequel brought her greater recognition. She was also in Sweet Home Alabama (2002) the romantic comedy. She was critically acclaimed and was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for playing June Carter Cash, in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a decline in her career, with her only box-office success was Water for Elephants (2011). Witherspoon returned to the screen with the production and role in Wild (2014). She got a second Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress. Witherspoon is still working primarily in television and has produced and starred in many adaptations of literary written by women under the name Hello Sunshine. These include Big Little Lies, an HBO drama series (2017-2019), The Morning Show, an Apple TV+ drama series (2019-present) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020). She won the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Limited Series for the first episode. She also created the films adaptations Gone Girl (2014) and Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).Witherspoon also owns a clothing company, Draper James, and she is active in children's and women's advocacy groups. She is a member of the board of directors for the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and was appointed Global Ambassador for Avon Products in 2007, being the honorary chair of the charitable Avon Foundation dedicated to women's causes.
