Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor. He has appeared as Copenhagen mayoral election candidate Troels Hartmann in the drama series The Killing, Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third series of Sherlock and the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix as well as Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. He was presented with the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At the age of 27, he enrolled at National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from there in 1995. He also appeared in The Killing's drama. In the following years, he appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill Both of which were internationally acclaimed Danish drama series. He was the President of Russia in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. The show aired in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm
